The Rising Sun is a small, independent Arts Centre based in Silver Street in Reading. We run a full programme of events, activities and participatory arts projects.

The centre is run by a team of volunteers who do everything from marketing and programming to fund-raising and staffing events. We aim to provide a space where creativity can flourish and where people can access, engage with and create art of all kinds. Our programme is of a high quality and we actively encourage people to get involved and make things happen.

The Move Up Christmas Show

Art work on view from 7pm – 8pm
Show from 8pm – 9pm
Following the viewing of art works, The Move Up Christmas Show will feature a specially written piece of drama and a short film commissioned for the event as well as dance, comedy and poetry. Mulled wine, a roaring log fire and a Christmas theme of families and friendship. The Move Up Show is produced by the Move Up Project and hosted by Finchies Bar. FREE ENTRY.

Just walking the dinosaur…

Couple of weekends ago we startled the streets of Reading by taking the dinosaur out for a walk, as part of Reading’s Nuit Blanche. We had music, poetry and a little bit of whip-cracking, not to mention quite a few awe-struck people and a very happy dino.

Martin West is a genius. Neile Wright is a legend.
